After RF Microneedling (Radiofrequency): Care for the First 7 Days
By All About Beauty at Westchase | September 19, 2026

I hear this a lot after a session: “My skin has never been so well cared for.” Now let’s protect that feeling and your results. The single most important rule after microneedling with radiofrequency is this: keep your skin clean, calm, and hydrated for the first 24 to 72 hours. That means gentle cleansing, no makeup, no sweaty workouts, no sauna or hot showers, and no pools or hot tubs. In Tampa, our sun and humidity make those first few days matter even more. Mild redness and tiny pinprick marks are normal and usually settle down in a few days, while collagen rebuilding keeps working for weeks.
Your first 24 to 48 hours: keep it clean, keep it cool
RF microneedling creates controlled micro-injuries while delivering heat into deeper layers to stimulate collagen. That’s why aftercare is simple, but strict at first. I generally recommend you treat your skin like it’s in “quiet mode.”
Do this first: Wash with a gentle, non-foaming cleanser, use lukewarm water, and pat dry. Then apply only the hydrating products we recommend. Keep your hands off your face unless you’ve just washed them.
Skip these for at least 48 to 72 hours
- Makeup (it can trap bacteria and irritate fresh channels)
- Exercise that makes you sweat heavily, including hot yoga
- Heat exposure like saunas and very hot showers
- Water submersion like pools, hot tubs, and long baths
- Alcohol-based toners, fragranced products, and harsh acne spot treatments
Desk work is usually fine the same day. If you’re a busy commuter or parent in the Citrus Park and Town 'n' Country area, plan on doing indoor errands only for 48 to 72 hours and save outdoor trips for later in the week.
Days 3 to 7: the “looks normal” week that still needs rules
By day 3, a lot of people feel like they can do everything again. This is where I want you to stay steady. You may still have dryness, a sandpapery feel, or light flaking. Don’t scrub it off. Don’t pick. Let your skin shed on its own.
In Tampa, strong sun plus post-treatment skin is a fast way to invite dark spots. Use broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every morning, and reapply when you’re outdoors. I also recommend limiting direct sun for 1 to 2 weeks, especially midday. If you’re heading out around Citrus Park Town Center or doing car line pickup, bring your sunscreen with you. Heat and sweat tend to irritate healing skin, so keep workouts gentle until the 72-hour mark has passed.
A quick reality check: You’ll often look “fine” before your skin is done rebuilding. Staying gentle in week one is what helps you get that smoother texture and tighter look people come in for.
Retinol, vitamin C, acids: what I have you pause after microneedling
If you’re used to active skincare, this part is hard. After RF microneedling, I typically have you pause retinoids, AHAs/BHAs, vitamin C serums, and exfoliants for 7 to 14 days, or until I clear you. Those products can sting, trigger extra redness, and increase the chance of pigment issues while your barrier is recovering.
Keep your routine boring on purpose. Gentle cleanse, hydration, and sunscreen. That’s it. If you’re unsure about a product you already own, let us know what it is and I’ll tell you if it’s a “yes now, ” “not yet, ” or “wait until week two.”
If you’re doing microneedling for wrinkles
Collagen takes time. You’ll usually see changes in texture and “crepey” areas first, then firmer-looking skin over the following weeks. Staying consistent with SPF is what keeps the work you paid for from getting undone.
When to reach out to me in Westchase, and how follow-ups work
I’m big on education and clear steps. People tell me they feel comfortable because I explain the procedure in detail and answer questions without making it weird. That doesn’t stop when you walk out the door. If something feels off, I want to hear about it.
“Sofia is very knowledgeable and informative. She explained everything and made me feel comfortable in an area that I know very little about.”

Normal vs. not normal
- Normal: mild redness, warmth, swelling, dryness, tightness, and tiny pinprick marks that improve over a few days
- Reach out right away: spreading redness, increasing pain, pus, fever, or unexpected scabbing
If you’re in Tampa, Town 'n' Country, Citrus Park, Carrollwood, Keystone, or Westchase, I can usually get you in quickly for a check if you need it.
Next steps: If you want to plan your next session or pair RF microneedling with another skin option, start with my guide to skin rejuvenation treatments in Tampa. It’s a good way to see where microneedling fits alongside microdermabrasion, PRP microneedling, laser skin correction, and injectables.
If you’re also searching online for laser hair removal near me or a medspa near me, I’m happy to talk through timing so your skin treatments and laser hair removal don’t compete with each other.
RF microneedling basics: the microneedling pen, timing, and price
RF microneedling uses a microneedling pen-like device to create controlled micro-channels in the skin while radiofrequency energy delivers heat below the surface. That combination is why it’s used for wrinkles, scars, texture, laxity, and large pores. It’s also why aftercare matters. You’re protecting fresh, healing skin so the collagen stimulation can do its job.
My RF microneedling (radiofrequency) sessions are 90 minutes, and pricing starts at $1200. If you’ve been comparing microneedling price online, make sure you’re comparing the same thing. RF microneedling is a different category than basic microneedling alone.
When you’re ready for another treatment, I’ll guide your timing based on your skin’s response and your goals. I’d rather space it correctly than rush it.
